If you have a deep appreciation for spiritual lyrics, you’re in good company. Today I’m sharing lyrics from eight of my favorite songs from Trevor Hall’s album, KALA.
“Let nobody be a stranger.” — Trevor Hall, You Got My Love
Trevor Hall’s music is soul medicine. His spiritually-minded lyrics go far beyond the words themselves, which is why I don’t mind if the same song plays back to back.
Many (if not all) of his songs are focused on spirituality and inner exploration. That has a way of fitting in nicely with the writings I share here, which is why I’ve shared his lyrics before—twice.
Since I love this kind of music so much, I thought I’d share some gems from his KALA album, which was released in 2015, marking the final chapter in a trilogy that chronicles a spiritual journey.
In Sanskrit, kala means “time.”Meaningful music fills the heart and remembers the soul. tweet this
If you’re into this kind of music, too, I highly recommend listening to the songs, which I’ve linked to after each one’s lyrics. His style is a mix of reggae, roots, folk, and whole lot of soul.
Some of My Favorite Spiritual Lyrics from Trevor Hall from KALA
1. To Zion
Polish the mirror so we can see clearer
Push back the clouds and reflect love superior
Within the lotus, it all comes in focus
This love, it ain’t hopeless
It’s no hocus pocus
Listen to the whole song: To Zion.
2. All In Due Time
Grow old and stay young
That’s how we live
Some they are taking
But we’ve come to give
Listen to the whole song: All In Due Time.
“Quiet down the mind. The more the song will play.” @TrevorHallMusic, You Can’t Rush Your Healing tell the world
3. Back To You
You’re with the moon and I’m with the sun
But that is the magic, the balance of our love
Listen to the whole song: Back To You.
I will look upon this land as Mother
Her body and her breath so strong
From the mountains to the deep deep waters
Listen to the whole song: Mother.
5. Bowl Of Light
The more I lose my words
The more I’m coming home
Let the mind grow humble
Let that spirit roam
Listen to the whole song: Bowl Of Light.
“Maybe you have to know darkness before you can appreciate the light.” — Madeline L’Engle, A Ring of Endless Light tell a friend
Which way do you run to
Are you coming out or in
When one cycle goes around
Another one begins
Listen to the whole song: Samay.
7. Uncle Jo
Let the hummingbird come teach us song
Drinking of the nectar palm to palm
Allies come to fill our well
Meaningful music keeps me filled
Into the world we come to play
And so we say
Listen to the whole song: Uncle Jo.
8. You Got My Love
Gotta stick to rhyme
Throw away the reason
Every perfect story has its glory and its season
Patience is a blessing for the nectar soon to come
Let thy will be done
Listen to the whole song (this is my favorite): You Got My Love.
For more Trevor Hall lyrics, some of which are from the KALA album, here’s another grouping of 5 that tell a story of unity, patience, time, healing, and forgiveness.
