To better understand life, practice sinking into the moment, wherever you are, without past or future. Such a simple intention can take you deeper into what you can do from here. But to do anything or go anywhere, you need to start here — fully. Here are a few handwritten notes to remind you that when you live for the moment, you send a powerful message into the universe. Life is listening…
To exist at all is the essential miracle of life. Not everyone holds this perspective, but a perspective is just another practice: the willingness to explore. It’s a perspective that treats me well. I highly recommend giving it a try.
Something else I recommend trying:
Do not long let your amazement escape you.
One breath. One at a time. One eternal moment in the middle of time. This is how we heal. This is how we wake up to what’s here. This is how we grow with what’s showing up for us — because we are showing up for it. I think it’s how we turn the mundane into magic or, at the very least, a meaningful experience worth exploring.
Sink into the moment. Look at the trees as though they are enjoying your companionship. Drink your tea as though it’s the only thing you must do.
Let the past and future rest inside the container of this moment with you, as though all of life sits here together: no need to wish to change anything that has come before or after this because it can be transformed here, through your simple, powerful presence.
5 Little Reminders to Live for the Moment: It Can Give You Everything
1. Be care-full.
“When we walk like (we are rushing), we print anxiety and sorrow on the earth. We have to walk in a way that we only print peace and serenity on the earth… Be aware of the contact between your feet and the earth. Walk as if you are kissing the earth with your feet.” — Thích Nhất HạnhWhen we bring care to what we think, speak, and do, we leave a mark that far outlasts our initial act. Our care-full intention echoes. #presence tell a friend
2. With gratitude, you are rich.
Don’t forget how rich you are just because you are alive. Life is the point, the purpose underlying every other purpose.

3. Rediscover the home within yourself, again and again.
Stringing together conscious moments, one at a time, can be like a return home. A relief. A gift of space. A better way of living.“Quiet down the mind. The more the song will play.” — @TrevorHallMusic #innerpeace tell a friend
4. Notice what others don’t see.
When I move through life consciously, I start to notice the tiniest details and I wonder how they escaped my attention before. There is so much to see, so much to hear, so much to experience — it’s what I think we’re here to do.“The world is full of magical things patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper.” — Eden Phillpotts #mindfulness tell a friend
5. Find the simplest ways to feel free.
To lie down. To look up. To need nothing else: Sweet freedom.
