Today, Dad would have turned 61 and I would have bought him donuts and made coffee for us both. Instead, I’m sharing some good news in honor of his memory: I wrote a book! If you love Sleep, and anything I write here, my first-ever book might become one of your new best friends.
I’ll still be sad that you’re not here, and I’ll also rejoice because you’ve been here for me every step of the way, even as I step into this new chapter of my life…
This post is a little different than usual.
I wanted to offer a quick “thank you so much, I love you and I’m your little girl forever, and I really miss your laugh” to my dad. It’s his 61st birthday today, and though I think of him countless times without missing a day, today I wanted to share a special message with you all, in honor of his life.
This is a message that my dad would be so happy to hear (but I know he’s partly the reason why I have the message to share at all): I wrote a book!
Childhood dreams coming true feel pretty damn good. Kind of the way you might imagine a miracle would feel.
Since Dad would’ve been telling all of his friends that his little girl was going to be a published author, I’ll do that for him today.
I Just Finished Writing My First Book!
Did you see my name on the cover of that book? There I am, and that’s something I’ve dreamt of for a very long time. Pretty cool, right?
I can’t even tell you how excited I am to share this with you. I have you to thank, too, because without your love and support I might not be here at all, writing these words every day, planting the seeds of lifelong dreams in the soil of daily devotion.
THANK YOU for being here. Sincerely. Your support means everything. With all my heart: Thank you. I appreciate you.
Now, about this book…
I like to call this a bedtime book for adults. I love to sleep and I’m a firm believer that restorative sleep—the kind that nourishes your mind, body, heart, and soul—should be the norm. That’s exactly why I wrote a book to help more people usher in the calming energy that invites restful sleep, using mindful affirmations that read like poetry.
If you enjoy the messages I share here, I promise you’re going to LOVE the affirmations in this book.

How Mindful Affirmations Can Help You Fall Asleep
Every single message I share here is intended for healing above all else. We’re all healing in some way, from something, but here, we are on the path together.
I wrote a book about healing, really, though the specific topic is focused on sleep. Sleep is like honey for our entire being, offering a safe environment for our body to relax and repair, for our mind to regroup, and for our heart to be replenished.Sleep is an important part of the healing journey. Life on earth as a human being can get pretty hectic; without the nourishment of a full night’s sleep, we’re more prone to meltdowns, physical breakdowns, and mental distress.
That’s what’s so wonderful about the sleep affirmations in this book: They are contemplations for the mind, body, heart, and soul. They’re focused on ALL the parts of who we are as we walk this world, and they give us something to focus on other than the chaos that likes to creep in at juuuust the moment when we’re ready to fall asleep.
You know when you get settled into bed for a long moment of respite and then everything from your day (or yesterday, or a year ago, or tomorrow) starts playing on an endless reel? Yeah, I don’t like that either.
The thing about affirmations is that we’re always practicing them.
When we say, “I can’t sleep” we are affirming that we can’t sleep, and this is the experience we’re (usually unintentionally) feeding because it’s the experience we’re focusing on.The more we affirm something, whether wanted or unwanted, the more we practice that experience. Click To Tweet
The thing about mindful affirmations is that we’re practicing what we WANT to experience more of. With this book, we’re learning how to have a healthier relationship with sleep by intentionally focusing on how good sleep feels.
Basically, we’re practicing how to sleep better.
Think about this: How do you feel when you say you can’t sleep, even if you want to sleep? Frustrated, probably, at least, and tired. How do you feel when you say you love sleep because that’s what you want and know is possible? Better, likely more hopeful and certainly more receptive to sleep.
It’s not just the affirmations themselves that are going to help you get into the right mindset for sleep, but the feelings that you generate while you repeat the phrases are the real miracle workers.
The more you practice feeling the way you want to feel, the easier it becomes and the more powerful you become.
All of the sleep affirmations in this book are equipped with healing potential; they elicit peaceful imagery to help you stay aligned with what feels good. Of course, I’m biased here when I say that reading these affirmations feels wonderful, but it really does!
Like all of my writing, I intentionally penned these sleep affirmations so that they felt really good. They read nice, but if you stay with them and let them soak into your head and heart as you’re lying down to sleep, I promise they’re going to feel reeaaaallyy good. When we feel good, we're closer to the essence of everything we want. In the case of this book, you’re guided to a better-feeling place inside that’s conducive to sleep.
As you use these mindful affirmations—reading, repeating, visualizing, feeling, and falling asleep with one powerfully healing message every night—you are creating new experiences. You are rewiring your brain. You are training your mind to return to peace, over and over again. Your head, heart, and physical body are learning to speak the language of sleep.
I can affirm with confidence that you’re going to love this book. It’s going to be your bedside companion, and you are going to LOVE sleep like it’s your best friend on the healing journey.
