A sleep ritual is a meaningful, mindful practice that elicits peace and prepares you for Dreamland. If that sounds good to you, consider picking up a coloring book (or print out these free coloring pages) to help you unwind. It’s a simple and fun way to tell your brain it’s okay to relax.
Sleep is for the strong. That’s why I’m sharing one of the sleep rituals mentioned in my forthcoming book, Sleep Rituals: 100 Practices for a Deep and Peaceful Sleep!
Yes, coloring is an effective remedy for the wandering mind and a simple way to open your creative heart.
And yes, you deserve a good night’s sleep.
Sleep Rituals the book is officially out on January 15th, 2019, making it a perfect companion for your New Year intention to sleep like a dream (because real rest is what you need to meet your goals and enjoy the process). Preorder it so you have something lovely to look forward to after the holidays. When you do, I’ll send you my exclusive Inner Peace Manifesto for free! Learn more about your freebie here.
Inspired by the book and some beautiful free coloring pages someone sent my way, I encourage you to take out your coloring pencils, pens, markers, or good old-fashioned crayons and get to playing.
A Soothing & Effective Sleep Ritual for Everyone
Coloring is a calming method of getting your head and heart in the mood for restful slumber. It’s an accessible activity for children and adults alike, a healthy outlet for stress and a satisfying way to relax at the end of a technology-heavy day.
It’s pretty amazing what benefits a simple coloring ritual can offer:
- Provides relief for anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other stress-related conditions.
- Encourages mindfulness, firmly planting you in the present moment and quieting a busy mind.
- Stimulates the areas of the brain associated with problem-solving, organization, coordination and motor skills.
Whether you prefer to color on your own or make it a social activity, inviting your family to join the art-making, coloring allows you to be creative without any real consequences. Even if you color outside the lines or don’t finish a page before bed, your brain enjoys the process of beautifying the paper and making something unique.#Creativity is the way I share my soul with the world. @BreneBrown inspire a friend
