This set of affirmations serves as a potent reminder to live from the heart of yourself. Use your favorite as a prompt to shine your light when you know in your heart it’s what you need to do—even and especially if there’s doubt in what you’re capable of. How you live is how you make a difference.
“You have to find what sparks a light in you so that you, in your own way, can illuminate the world.” — Oprah Winfrey
The feelings you harbor inside fuel the words you think and speak, yet the words you think and speak can also fuel the feelings. Just as a smile (even a fake one) can boost one’s mood, empowering affirmations can incite positive inner shifts.
I invite you to use the power of the spoken word to your advantage so that you can shine your light and make the contributions you so want to make. Those contributions need to start somewhere, and starting authentically from within is a wonderful decision.
That’s what these affirmations are: decisions.
The words you speak with conviction either serve to dim your light or amplify it. They encourage you to do what you can from this place or they discourage you from starting at all.
What else do we have to work with other than who we are, what we have, and what we know in this one moment?
When we’re talking about making a positive difference in the world, the initial question tends to be “Who am I to shine my light?” The ultimate question we end up asking, however, if we get to the core of our desire, is “Who am I NOT to shine my light?”If you ever ask yourself “Who am I to shine my light?” pretend that someone you love and admire is asking you this: “Who are you NOT to shine your light?” tell a friend
You have a lot to give. I wrote these affirmations to remind you (and myself) that if we have an ounce of desire to contribute to a more loving world, then that is what we must do. We absolutely must answer that call.
5 Affirmations to Remind You to Shine Your Light with Conviction
1. I am already a powerful force for positive change.
I can change my mode from resistance to acceptance and from striving to thriving. I can change from lack to abundance. I can change from disbelief to new possibilities. All my power to change is already a light that shines inside of me. I activate that light, invite that light, and feed it with all my might.
I can create change because it’s what I’m here to do.
2. I trust in my ability to contribute.
I am here to give the world the light I keep: the more I give, the more I am able to give. I may not always be able to see why I should believe in myself, so I surrender my need to always see the answers. I trust that something valuable is being worked out in me.
I trust that I am here to be who I am and contribute who I am. All I need to do is show up for myself, with as much honesty and compassion as possible. All I need to be is me.If you believe in your ability to contribute and you follow your desire to make a difference, the world will eventually notice. tell the world
3. My mistakes might be blessings.
My experiences are not mistakes. Everything I’ve gone through has planted something valuable in me or shown me something I needed to see. I am not just what’s happened to me: I am how I choose to live right now.
Here and now, I have been gifted another chance to distill my lessons and share my insights with others who may really need my voice. My story might heal. My “mistakes” might actually be someone else’s blessings—and maybe even my own.
4. I’m refocusing on what I CAN do.
I don’t need to do all of the things all at once. I don’t need to know all of the answers in this moment. This is my moment to switch my perspective from what I can’t do to what I can do. I reorganize my energy. I recalibrate and celebrate one thing I can do right now to make a difference.Focusing on what you CAN do from this place is giving yourself permission to contribute and create, which is what you're here to do. tell a friend
5. All I need, I already have.
I don’t need more comfort, status, or resources to leave a loving mark on the world today. How I live my life and how I treat others is the essential contribution I can make. I create this offering of love consciously. I reach out with my heart and give my undivided attention.
With motivations of genuine compassion and connection, I brighten the world exactly as I’m meant to.
