Do you need some help meditating? I find that it’s easier to access that core of stillness I’m seeking in a meditation when I have some easy phrases to fall back on. Repeating a meaningful phrase (sometimes called a mantra) is an ancient practice for reigning in the wandering mind: it works. So, here are 5 easy-to-remember affirmations for meditation, inspired by my own practice.
A cross between an affirmation and a mantra, these phrases are meant to ease you into — and keep you in — your meditation practice.
If you’re like me, it’s all too easy to get distracted by… anything.
The good news is that even your meditation practice doesn’t need to be perfect. The act of noticing that your mind has wandered is actually what mediation is all about. You don’t need to worry about erasing all thoughts from your mind. All you truly need for a successful meditation practice is the willingness to keep showing up and rerouting your mind back to the present moment.
To help you refocus on the present moment, you can use your breath, a tangible object, a mental visual, or a specific phrase as a focal point. Mantras are words or short phrases meant for repetition, especially in a meditation or a chant; their sound has a significant meaning that’s long believed to bring about healing or enlightenment to the practitioner. Here are 7 to activate your inner light.
This is how these affirmations for meditation differ: while meant for repetition, it’s not necessarily their ancient sound that brings about a peaceful state of mind, but rather their easy and simple nature.
Personally, these affirmations work for me because they’re so easy to remember and come back to, again and again.
You can repeat these in the order given below like I do, or in any order that suits you. You can use just one or two as a focal point to corral your mind whenever it strays from the present moment (or your breathing or visualization). Whatever helps you come back to the stillness of this moment — do that.

Again: these affirmations are SIMPLE but meaningful. I chose the same opening on purpose and the following three words with care. I placed them in this order for a reason. This short yet potent sequence is helping me meditate easier. With less frustration.
