5 Short Poems: The Beauty of This Moment Is Your Life

5 Short Poems: The Beauty of This Moment Is Your Life

In all the busy-ness that is this world, when do you allow yourself to stop spinning? This moment is your life, certainly, but how to feel as though you are truly alive, breathing in the life energy that makes the breath possible?

Let these poems remind you to pause, connect, and immerse yourself in the miracle of being here.

You don’t need to add more to your plate in order to feel more fully involved with life, to feel uplifted or inspired. You may simply need to reconnect with the moment that you’re currently breathing in.

5 Poems, Just to Remind You That This Moment Is Your Life

What are these inhibitions?

Who put this wall here while I wasn’t looking?

Why is it that, sober,

I can barely find the words to say

What’s just beyond my heart’s reach,

But drunk on life,

I am a river of creativity?

— Ambrosia

I watched six candles

Burn tonight—

All at once, a

Symphony of light.

There I watched and sat,

Thinking how I might

Glow like that.

— Channeling light

“Be kind to yourself and enjoy life more deeply.” — Mary Davis

When you can see through

Your own reflection,

You have traveled far.

When you see yourself

Reflected in the trees and stars,

You have traveled deep.

When your reflection gleams from

The face of an other,

You have glimpsed the heart.

May these glimmers of memory

Stay with you while you sleep, and

Wake you to the wisdom that

Every soul keeps.

— Glimpsing the heart

I treat this moment as though it is my life, and thus it contains every possibility I need to thrive.

Me and this morning,

The waking sun,

The sleeping world—

I begin to wonder

How I ever believed that this was not

Enough.

Sitting here,

Just the earth and all its glory

And the sun shining on me.

I am content here,

Soaking up the warm earthy energy.

There’s nowhere else I’d rather be.

— This is enough

If I adjust my vision

And look much closer,

The invisible starts to dance—

Every particle looks like

Its own galaxy.

I imagine all the suns

We’re not seeing, and suddenly

My whole life is shimmering like

Constellations recorded in the wind.

Secrets are held in my glance.

— Hidden, here

Love love love -this is enough! Matches my art piece completely and the sentiments I was trying to get across. Still a work in progress but thanks for writing it.

Hi Samuels, well, there are five poems here, but each is, in its own way, about the beauty of being fully in the present moment. “Drunk on life” or looking more closely at the world around you, and feeling your own presence here, and how much of a gift that is. It makes even the mundane and ordinary moments seem special. :) ~ jen
