Self-awareness is the key that unlocks the door to fulfillment and true happiness. Through joyful and judgment-free awareness, you’ll be able to discover the depths of who you really are and, on the same token, recognize everything that is not you.
“When we are mindful, deeply in touch with the present moment, our understanding of what is going on deepens, and we begin to be filled with acceptance, joy, peace and love.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
Operate in the Present
I don’t let the chaos distract me from the inner calm that comes from knowing who I am.
Establish yourself in the present and you can reach out and touch the wonders of life that are only available in this moment. Through your practice of self-awareness you will come to know what it truly means to live, and you’ll start living for today. You’ll recognize the glimpse of eternity that only Now has to offer, and you’ll recognize it as a gift.
So many are too often lost in the abyss of unawareness, yet this moment is worthy of our awareness. When we grace the present with our presence, we’re given so much possibility for joy, acceptance, peace, and love. Living with reverence for this gift through our awareness and appreciation awakens an aliveness in our soul that is unrivaled by worldly fear and chaos.
Let us learn to occupy the space between the past and the future. May we cease to let old hurts and future worries take us away from the joys of now. The love in this moment is calling for our attention.
Be Mindful of Your Movements
The way to self-knowledge is self-awareness, and so I am mindful of my internal world.
Showing up for your life means that you stand fully aware in this moment. Acknowledge your thoughts, however they may show up in your mind. Acknowledge your words, however unkind they can seem at times. Acknowledge your actions, and reflect upon your habits. Be mindful of how you move through the world: start showing up.
Engage your power of presence in the daily activities, because each moment strings itself together to create the fabric of your entire life. Practice self-awareness in each movement, each decision, and each thought–pay attention to what’s going on inside you in the small moments. Each small moment is your life.
When you actually stop for a moment to think about how you feel right now, you can better understand who you are and who you are not. You can also better assess your imprint on the world. A keen self-awareness enhances your ability to serve with excellence, and it uplifts you to be a stronger force of love.
Observe without Judgment
I observe my emotions, thoughts, and actions with honesty and without judgment.
Personal power is not about how the world falls into perfect place around you, it’s about how you choose to live within yourself regardless of how the pieces of the puzzle arrange themselves. When we become consciously and purposely aware of all that’s happening around us and inside us, some things will show up that we don’t like. Don’t let that stop you from searching.
Be patient and be kind with yourself. Self-awareness is about discovering yourself, wrapped in layers of beliefs, and sometimes it’s painful.
Though a painstaking practice, self-awareness offers spectacular rewards. We get to connect with ourselves and others on a deeper, truer level. We’re also gifted with a greater capacity to meet the demands of the hour with grace. Greeting ourselves with less judgment and more love, honesty, and respect, we naturally amplify the love we discover in the world around us.
Today, let it be your mission to uncover the source of calm available in each waking moment. A happy life begins now. The way is through self-awareness.
