This affirmation for love is meant to gently encourage you to let the love into your heart, and the light into your life. Any walls you’ve built around your heart may protect you from some pain, but they block you from all possibility of living a full, abundant life.
“Let the love in your heart be the light that guides you through your darkest moments.” – Rashida Rowe
Love Dissolves All Darkness
May any walls I’ve built around my heart crumble in the presence of love.
After experiencing heartbreaking loss of loved ones, it was the love that also brought me back into the light again. It’s the love that, day by day, I continue to rely on to get me through the darkness–the pain, the grief, the tragedy, the frustration, the anxiety, the fear.
Love dissolves it all and, in the end, it’ll seem as if the dark times were nothing at all.
If we build walls around our hearts to block out the dark nights, we too block out the beauty of the stars that shine. By letting down your guard, you allow love to work through you in all ways, through brighter times and through darker times.
You may feel your pain, but you’ll also move through it if you have faith in the most powerful force in the world: love.
This love is meant to be extended, shared, and experienced in its fullness. Life is meant to be experienced fully, richly, deeply–that means we must experience the depths of sorrow yet too know that love dives deeper than we could ever know, deeper than sorrow could ever go.
Love Is Something We Teach
I am willing to be generous with my love without needing others to reciprocate.
This is an important lesson of love, that we must first give whatever it is we want to receive.
A Course In Miracles teaches us that when we die, all we take with us is the love we have given and received, because love is all that is real, and what is real is eternal. We’re taught to teach only love, for that is what we are. We’re taught that having rests on giving and not getting, so in order to have, we must give.
To have peace, we must teach peace to learn it. To receive love, we must teach it to know it.
To love first, to trust first, to give first–without requiring these qualities to be returned to us before we teach them–may seem like a vulnerable thing to do. Vulnerability is strength. To bear your heart and be your true self, to love without conviction, and to give without expectation is an act of courage in this world.
What could you learn by teaching? What could you gain by giving and expecting absolutely nothing in return?
Love Without Limits
I am willing to let the light in, to shine that light on others, and to live in the light of abundance.
It’s not until we trust love completely, no matter what, that we understand what it’s like to live an abundant life. Recognizing the love in everything is a way of living each moment in a spirit of gratitude, and letting that gratefulness feed every step.
By allowing life to live through us, we live in such a way that there can be no end to joy, and no reason to limit the love we extend to others.
Real beauty is in the wholeness of life–not just the “good” parts.. Every piece holds the opportunity to choose love over fear. In each moment dwells the possibility to give without restriction and to love without limits.
Let that fortress around your heart dissolve in the light of this awareness: love is the only truth and the key to experiencing this life fully, abundantly, and joyfully.
