The situation usually isn’t the root of the problem; the filter through which we see the situation is nearly always the reason for our happiness or unhappiness. This affirmation can be used to help you change your perspective when anything outside of yourself seems to be causing you stress.

Most of our problems are problematic merely because we label them as such. By never allowing our views to be challenged or changed, we block ourselves (usually unintentionally) from experiencing the fullness of life.
If you’re at least willing to change your perspective, you’re allowing yourself to receive more of what life has to give.
By saying, “I’m willing to let this situation be reinterpreted for me,” you’re opening up to a whole new field of possibilities for how you can experience your life. You’re requesting to see everything differently with fresh eyes. Change your perspective, and you change everything.
Be Willing to Change Your Perspective
Our lens could use a little adjusting from time to time.
We fall into the easy routine of blaming–our circumstances, other people, ourselves–and resisting what is. We base our inner conditions on external events. We fall off track, but thankfully we can always start again from wherever we find ourselves.
In fact, our struggles have not taken us off the path of happiness; they’ve become part of the journey, too.
Consciously choosing to widen your view opens gates to the hidden gems in daily life. Your willingness to change your perspective breathes new life into overlooked and over-analyzed aspects of your life.
You see differently, therefore it all looks different.
Transforming negative and self-destructive perspectives into positive ones sets the stage for miracles in everyday life.
If you’re open to the idea, experiment with some of the following perspectives. They might help you release the current thought or belief that’s not serving you, and help you step into a happier space.
7 Perspectives to Consider Adopting
1. Hope for the best and expect the best.
What’s the sense in expecting the worst? How do we really know what’s best for our growth and happiness in the long run? The truth is, we don’t. Once we accept this, life becomes less of a struggle as we become less resistant to our experiences.
Adopting a generally optimistic outlook for the future sets you up more firmly to experience a beautiful life. You develop a vision and a hope for the beauty and the goodness in life.
2. Choose positive labels.
Good things come from bad things, and bad things can come from good things, so who’s to say what’s “good” or “bad?” Only if you believe in a label does it become meaningful to you
Be attentive to your choice of words. If you constantly repeat words like “bad,” “dreadful,” “evil,” and “stupid,” you give them weight. Try choosing more loving thoughts and words–label your experiences with more “beauty,” “love,” “joy,” “opportunity,” and “helpful.”
3. The only time is now.
Consciously focus on the present moment. Feel it. Breathe it in. Savor it. The best/right/perfect time is now, so stop waiting for it to happen in some other place at some other time. This is where all possibility lives. This is where miracles occur.
4. We are more alike than we are different.
When we drop judgment, we see everyone with more kindness and compassion. Dropping the notion that we’re separate, and embracing unity, constitutes a deeper level of living.
Try to choose love over judgment and you become a conduit for peace, understanding, connection, and happiness. Know that, because you are human and I am human, we’re really more alike than we could ever be different.
5. I can do this.
Narrowly defining our abilities encloses us in a box which we ourselves tape shut. Lift the limits you place upon yourself, for you hold the key to personal freedom, inner peace, and boundless joy.
Talk about your blessings more than you talk about your problems. Focus on what you can do right now versus what you cannot. As Coach John Wooden once wisely stated, “Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.”
6. I trust that wherever I go, there I am.
Become keenly aware of how often you use the words “should,” “could,” and “would.” These words express the deep-rooted beliefs we hold, saying that this place, this time, this situation, and who we are will never be good enough.
You are enough. This moment is enough. You were born whole and capable and beautiful. Label mistakes as lessons. See challenges as opportunities. Believe that you’re always where you need to be, you’re always doing your best, and you’re always receiving what you need for your evolution on both a human and spiritual level.
7. I’m doing this out of love.
Choose loving thoughts, words, and actions over fear-driven thoughts, words, and actions. Every moment is a chance to choose love or fear.
Example: Are you exercising for the love of how it makes you feel, or are you doing it for fear of gaining weight?
The same mental frame can be identified across many behavioral patterns. The way we eat, speak, work, play, communicate, and live are all subject to this underlying decision.
Do things from a place of love, and you hold that space for others, too.
