When we feel like life is lacking in something, there is merely a lack of gratitude. Shifting our perspective, we’ll find that we’ve been given far more than we have given (or at least that we’ve not had to carry certain hardships). These happy thanksgiving quotes speak of the real riches in life, the blessings overlooked, and the beauty buried in the imperfections.
“Gratitude is the sign of noble souls.” – Aesop
Happy people don’t have everything, but they enjoy what they have. In this sense, perhaps the happiest people truly do have everything, because their gratitude makes possible an abundance of riches which are not conditional. Their wealth is dependent only on their thanksgiving, and not on their bank account.
It is when I forget to be thankful for what I’m blessed with that I lose sight of what really matters in life. And when that happens, happiness is not possible. Happiness is only possible when gratitude is present in the way I see the world.
Through our thanksgiving, miracles spring from difficulties and joy burns out the pain. Little by little, our willingness to appreciate the totality of our lives–pains and pleasures, and everything in between–transforms life itself into a master work of blessings. No, nothing is perfect, but we can still embrace all the imperfections of the journey, as best we can and as often as possible.
In fact, what I’ve found is that my appreciation of things and people actually attracts more opportunities to be appreciative. And so it is, that our grateful acknowledgement is a magnet for more of life’s true riches. As the saying goes, give thanks for a little and you will find a lot.
Enjoy these happy thanksgiving quotes, and remember always to return to gratitude if you feel like something is lacking.
